Star Wars...

Lately I have been thinking a lot about Star Wars...laugh...I know...but as I have been re-watching the originals I keep seeing so many correlations between Star Wars and living my life for God. Sometimes we all get so caught up in the "stuff" of this world and God gets shoved to the wayside. The other way sometimes just seems so much easier. I hate to admit it, but at times I have to stop and remind myself why I am choosing to live my life differently than so many people. Then came Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and it hit me...Luke is asking Yoda about the dark side and his question is "Is the dark side stronger?" How often do we ask ourselves is the way of the world easier, more powerful and can God win against it...is living this way worth it? And Yoda's reply is simple (as all of Yoda's replies are) Yoda says "No, no no. Quicker, easier, more seductive" How often do we find ourselves being seduced by Satan to simply live un-Christ-like....but in the end, it is NOT the best way and it is not the more powerful way...in the end, God's way prevails even though the way of the "Dark Side" is oh so tempting....

Funny how God works even when you are watching random movies....

God works in strange ways...

So lately I have been trying to read my Bible more...and I don't mean just read but not comprehend, but really, truly read and learn more about this awesome God we know so very little about....I figured the only way I could truly get to know God better is to read His word...

On Thursdays at church we started studying Jonah...well at first I thought...this is cake, I already studied Jonah two years ago, I already know it all....surprise surprise, that was so not true! I was floored by how many times you can read the same scripture throughout your life and always get something new out of it. Anyway, so I started getting curious about Amos (being that he was brought up as being around during Jonah's time) . So I picked up my flippin cool Bible (it has the Message and the NIV SIDE BY SIDE!!!) and man did God open my eyes to something so obvious yet that I was blind... Amos 5:14 in the Message says "Seek good and not evil - and live! You talk about God, the God-of-the-Angel-Armies, being your best friend. Well live like it, and maybe it will happen." Common sense would say, well duh! Live like it and it will happen...but for some reason my little brain just couldnt seem to grasp onto it until late one night two days ago...God is the only one I can TRULY trust...everyone is human and flawed, but God is the ultimate best friend, He will never let me down, only I am not LIVING like God is my best friend...I know what my next step finally is now...

WHITE SOX WIN THE WORLD SERIES!!!!!

It's still so hard to believe that my team finally won the World Series!! I have been given so much crap about being a White Sox fan for years....and now....they swept the Astros...GO TEAM!

Relationships...

So last night at neveaH we had an awesome discussion on the difference between men and women...and of course part of that discussion went to relationships...so as I have been processing my thoughts, tonight another side of relationships was brought to mind...someone I work with is going through a divorce. His wife of 13 years had apparently been cheating on him for the majority of their marriage and now he is hurt, angry, and somewhat bitter. I can't say that I blame him but it just brings back up one of my fears...divorce. I just can't imagine sharing your life with someone and then giving up on it or having your other half give up on you. I guess this is just one of the many reasons to make your marriage one with three parts...you...your spouse...and God.
